Franchise vs. Business Opportunity

So you’re an entrepreneur and are looking to find that awesome business to set your sights on.  You’ve searched and discovered plenty of options out there, however some of them are Franchises and some are Business Opportunities.  But you’re not sure what the differences are.  Well, since we at Energy Automation Systems, Inc. What is a Franchise?


In a Franchise business model, the franchisee (you, the entrepreneur) will pay fees to the franchisor (the franchising company) to set up your business using the franchisors trade name, branding, logo, promotional materials, etc.  The franchisor will provide training, operations manuals, and a variety of other tools that you can and must use. The fees paid by the franchisee include an upfront franchise fee as well as an ongoing royalty paid on a regular basis.  Typically the geographic area in which a franchisee can operate is limited by the franchisor. The fast food industry is a good example of the franchise business model. The benefits to this model are that you typically have a well structured business model that hopefully is “tried and true”. The downside is the franchisor will have very strict controls over how you can run your business.

What is a Business Opportunity?


A Business Opportunity model is a bit different, and is a bit more varied.  In a nutshell, when you purchase a business opportunity, you are given the products to sell, but are free to run your business as you see fit. This gives you, the business owner, much more freedom to operate your company the way you want to without the requirements imposed by franchise procedures and policies.  However, in many scenarios, you will not get much support from the host corporation. What is an EASI Business Opportunity


This brings us to… us. Here at EASI, we technically offer a business opportunity, but is more of a hybrid business model.  You’ll be in business for yourself, but not by yourself. EASI has developed and assembled proven technologies that form a complete, generally passive energy savings system that saves electricity on motors, lights, air conditioning, refrigeration, etc. You’ll be part of the “green” movement by reducing the energy consumption, and thus energy costs, for other businesses. With our Energy Saving Business Opportunity, as an Authorized Affiliate of EASI, you will own your own business, with your own business name, promotional materials, etc. You will only pay a one-time fee for this business opportunity. However, the difference with EASI is our ongoing support. Our Affiliates receive ongoing training, sales and marketing materials, and regular seminars and conferences. Also, in our business model we work with you directly with every one of your projects. Our staff and engineers are an extension of your business.
